The early architecture of this Gateway to the West, was the focus of this study, particularly historic buildings in the Exchange District. It also included the architecture of flowers after time was spent in the city's spectacular botanical gardens and sculpture park. Visits to the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Pavilion Art Gallery, Manitoba Museum and the Ukrainian Museum of Canada provided the background needed to develop ideas.
